Any rule not listed here or on the official Grand Slam Louisiana website will default to the NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Rulebook.
Grand Slam Louisiana – Guest Player Rule (Effective 1/1/2026)
• Each team is allowed to pick up a maximum of two (2) Guest Players per event.
These players must be listed as “Guest Players” on the team’s event roster for that specific weekend.
• Classification Restrictions:
A team may only pick up two (2) players from the same classification the team’s registered classification.
PLAYERS MUST BE FROM SAME CLASS!!!

A 9u A team may pick up:
Two (2) A-classified players

• Guest Player Eligibility for Protest:
A player must be listed on a Grand Slam-sanctioned team roster in order for their eligibility to be protested or reviewed.

Pitching Guidelines
Pitchers are tracked by innings, not pitch count.
Grand Slam Louisiana encourages all teams to follow MLB Pitch Smart guidelines.
IF a pitcher reaches this maximum number of innings on a particular day, the pitcher CANNOT pitch on the next calendar day and must adhere to ONE DAY'S REST before being able to pitch again. This rule does NOT change the TOTAL number of innings allowed in an event, only the number of innings allowed on a PER DAY basis
Pitcher's can not pitch more than 3 innings in pool play and pitch in Bracket Play!!

13U: Only -5 or -3 bats are permitted.
All other divisions may use age-appropriate bats per Grand Slam guidelines.
Games can end in a tie during pool play.
During bracket play, if a game is tied after regulation time or innings:
The last batted out will start on second base with no outs.
Head-first slides are not allowed when a player is wearing a face mask, jaw flap, or chin strap.
1st Offense → Team Warning
2nd Offense → Runner Out
This restriction does not apply to 13u and above.

Grand Slam provides 2 game balls per game.
Teams must assist in retrieving foul balls to keep games on schedule.
Teams must be ready to start up to 15 minutes early if fields are available.
Confirm final score and pitchers’ innings with umpires before signing game cards.
Time-limit disputes: stop the clock and request a Director or UIC immediately.
All timing issues must be resolved before leaving the field.
All protests must be made at the time of the incident, before the next pitch.
A $300 cash protest fee must be submitted immediately.
Fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld by the Tournament Committee.
Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their players, parents, and staff.
Home team is determined by coin flip for pool play and higher seed for bracket play.
Teams are expected to display good sportsmanship at all times.
Tournament Director decisions are final in all matters.
Coaches will sign in each day at gate to receive coaches pass.
1. A regulation team consists of nine players. You have 4-choices for your lineup: (1) Bat 9-straight, (2) Bat 9 with DH, (3) Bat 10/Play 9 with EH or (4) Bat the entire lineup (Continuous batting order with FREE Defensive Substitutions applies). A team must start the game with at least 9-players but can finish a game with 8-players. LINEUPS ARE ONLY COLLAPSIBLE if a player is incapacitated during a game and will not be available for the balance of the event. If you do not have an eligible substitute to replace a player that is injured, ejected or cannot bat for any reason, it is an AUTOMATIC OUT when that players turn comes up in the batting order. The official Grand Slam lineup card must reflect the option chosen and ALL eligible substitutes MUST BE LISTED. If a player is NOT listed on the lineup card, to include substitutes, they will NOT be eligible to play in that particular game
2. 7 runs max per inning.

5. Base stealing is allowed. Baserunners must remain on the base until the ball reaches home plate before they steal. Once a player reaches 3rd base, the ONLY way they can score is to be batted in or forced home on a bases loaded walk. A player that steals 2nd can advance to 3rd on the same play, of course he is in jeopardy of being tagged out. However, if there are runners on 1st and 3rd he can only advance to 2nd since the runner occupying 3rd cannot advance home until the ball is hit. The ball is always in play unless time has been called by an umpire.
6. If a player leaves a base early, a dead ball will be called immediately and a no pitch declared. Players will return to the previous bag they occupied and the count on the batter remains the same.
7. Pitchers mound set at 46-feet and bases set at 65-feet.
8. Balk rules do NOT apply.
